Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a counselling session?
You can book a counselling session by filling out my online form or contacting me directly. I will get back to you promptly to schedule your appointment.
What can I bring to therapy?
In therapy, you can address a wide range of issues that affect your mental health and well-being.
These may include anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, family dynamics, stress management, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, life transitions, addiction, LGBTQ+ concerns, anger management, work-related stress, and more.
Therapy provides a supportive environment where you can explore and work through these challenges
Do you work with children and young people ?
Yes, I have a wealth of experience working with children and managing a children's counselling service for over 10years. My focus is on providing compassionate support and guidance to help them navigate life's challenges and thrive emotionally and mentally. I ensure that parents, carers or legal guardians are fully informed and on board with the therapy process, while also respecting the child's privacy unless there's a safeguarding concern. I believe in open communication with parents and keeping the child's autonomy and confidentiality throughout our sessions."
How often should I have therapy?
During our initial session, we will work together to assess your current situation, establish therapeutic goals, and develop a therapy plan.
Therapy sessions typically occur on a weekly basis, providing consistency and support as we navigate your journey towards healing and growth. However, if weekly sessions are not feasible for you, or if you prefer a different frequency such as fortnightly or monthly, that’s perfectly okay. Therapy goes at your pace, and session frequency can be adjusted based on your progress, preferences, and scheduling needs.
The duration of therapy varies for each individual and depends on factors such as the complexity of issues, level of commitment, financial issues and readiness for change. Some clients may benefit from short-term focused therapy, while others may find long-term ongoing support beneficial.
What can I expect during a counselling session?
During a 45 minute counselling session, you can expect a non-judgmental and empathetic conversation with a qualified therapist who will listen to your concerns and work with you to achieve your mental health goals.
